Meeting needs
Both of you have to understand that you have different
needs from one another. It's when you acknowledge each
other's needs, and spend a good chunk of your time,
energy, and resources MEETING each other's needs, that
your relationship will TRULY be happy.

O mister mine, where are you roaming?
O stay and hear! your true love's coming,
That can sing both high and low:Trip no further,pretty sweeting;
Journeys end in lovers meeting,
Every wise man's son doth know.
What is love? 'tis not hereafter;
Present mirth hath present laughter;
What's to come is still unsure;
In delay there lies no plenty;
Then come kiss me, sweet-and-twenty!
Youth's a stuff will not endure.
William Shakespeare

Chaplain's Weekly Thought
Do not [earnestly] remember the former things; neither consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing! . . . I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert - Isaiah 43:18-19 Amplified Bible.
Never be afraid when God brings back the past. Let memory have its way. God will turn the ‘might have been’ into a wonderful beginning for the future.
- Oswald Chambers
It was for my own good that I had such troubles. Because You love me very much, You did not let me die but threw my sins far away - Isaiah 38:17 NCV.
You know the feeling. You have stood where Noah stood. You’ve known your share of floods. Flooded by sorrow at the cemetery, stress at the office, anger at the disability in your body or the inability of your spouse. You’ve seen the floodwater rise, and you’ve likely seen the sun set on your hopes as well. You’ve been on Noah’s boat. And you’ve needed what Noah needed. You’ve needed some hope.
- Max Lucado
‘For I know what plans I have in mind for you,’ says Adonai, ‘plans for well-being, not for bad things; so that you can have hope and a future - Jeremiah 29:11 The Complete Jewish Bible.
Never forget – God’s destiny for you is not limited by earthly tunnel vision but is open wide to His unlimited heavenly vision. ‘Long before we first heard of Christ . . . He had His eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose He is working out in everything and everyone’ (Ephesians 1:1 The Message).
- Dorothy Valcárcel
My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest - Exodus 33:14; Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest - Matthew 11:28, all verses KJV.
It was with these words that God encouraged Moses to lead the people of Israel forward after they had so grievously sinned in making and worshiping the golden calf. . . . [I]t will be well to remember that the promise here recorded is identical with that in Matthew 11:28. Rest was promised, and could be found, only in God’s presence, which was to go with His people. So Christ, Who is ‘God with us’ (Matthew 1:23), and Who is with us ‘all the days, even to the end of the world’ (Matthew 28:20), says ‘Come unto Me, all ye that labour, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest’. The rest that was offered to the children of Israel in the desert, is the very same rest that Christ offers to all mankind, rest in God, in the everlasting arms . . . ‘As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you’ (Isaiah 66:13). But God always was and is everywhere present; why then do not all people have rest? – For the simple reason that as a general thing men do not recognize His presence, not even His existence. Instead of taking God into account in all the affairs of life, most people live as though He did not exist. ‘Without faith it is impossible to please Him; for he that cometh to God must believe that He is’ (Hebrews 11:6). This shows that the general inability to please God, and so to find rest, arises from practical unbelief that He exists.

Dear Friends, It’s a new year, that time when many make new resolutions while others are troubled by all of last year’s ‘what ifs’. As Oswald Chambers wisely observes, God can change every ‘might have been’ into a new and wonderful beginning so that with Isaiah we can say that our troubles were for our own good.
But, you may be saying, ‘I’ve done too many terrible things and have disobeyed God so He is not with me and cannot bless me.’ But note Waggoner’s words: ‘It was with these words that God encouraged Moses to lead the people of Israel forward after they had so grievously sinned in making and worshiping the golden calf’. Israel had denied God, made a golden calf and worshipped it. Yet, God promised to go with Moses and continue leading the Israelites. He did not cast them away or abandon them.
Have you abandoned God? Do you doubt He exists? As Waggoner notes, He is present everywhere but He is unable to bless you or give you rest if you doubt Him. God does not force you to believe in Him. He loves you too much to force Himself upon you. But that does not mean He has forsaken you. He’s just waiting for you to turn to Him and rest in Him so He can bring about the ‘plans I have in mind for you,’ says Adonai, ‘plans for well-being, not for bad things; so that you can have hope and a future’.

Philippians 4:6-7 ESV
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Rekindled
Here are six reasons why a divorced couple may become husband and wife all over again:
Time Heals All Wounds: Time can certainly heal a lot of things and, in many cases, it may heal both former spouses' hearts. You may forget all of the things that you disliked about your ex and all you can remember is the good times.
The Grass Wasn't Greener: As time passes, former spouses may realize that the grass wasn't greener on the other side. They then begin to stop dwelling on the negative things about their ex and start reflecting on the positive things. This can draw them closer to each other once again.
Family Connection: Family and children can certainly bring two spouses back together again. They begin to see each other at school functions and at sporting events and start up a dialogue again. Celebrating children's accomplishments together may help bring them closer.
Personal Growth: Sometimes two people feel that they need to grow a bit on their own in order to be fully committed to a marriage. As the saying goes, "If I am not happy with myself, how can I be happy with anyone else?" After spending some time apart and growing a bit more, they may be ready to be in a partnership again.
Forgiveness: Forgiveness comes with time. If the two ex-spouses worked on themselves while apart and they are in a better place, they may be able to forgive their spouse for all that went wrong. Certainly, forgiving and getting back together are very different. However, if you feel that you could give it a go again together as a couple, forgiveness can play a major part in the two of you getting remarried again.
Love Is Strong: While you may dislike your former spouse, deep down you may also still love them. Down the road, the dislike can dissipate and the love you have for them still can come back to the forefront. If you feel that things could work out again with your ex-spouse, don't ignore your feelings. Love can be a powerful thing in bringing two people back together again.
