Passion and Purity

“But the question to precede all others, which finally determines the course of our lives is What do I really want? Was it to love what God commands, in the words of the collect, and to desire what He promises? Did I want what I wanted, or did I want what He wanted, no matter what it might cost?”
― Elisabeth Elliot, Passion and Purity: Learning to Bring Your Love Life Under Christ's Control

Deuteronomy 10:12-13

"Now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require from you,
but to fear the LORD your God,
to walk in all His ways and love Him,
and to serve the LORD your God
with all your heart and with all your soul,
and to keep the LORD'S commandments
and His statutes
which I am commanding you today
for your good?"

Thoughts

The blessed Saviour stands by many whose eyes are so blinded by tears that they do not discern Him. He longs to clasp our hands, to have us look to Him in simple faith, permitting Him to guide us. His heart is open to our griefs, our sorrows, and our trials. He has loved us with an everlasting love and with loving-kindness compassed us about. We may keep the heart stayed upon Him and meditate upon His loving-kindness all the day. He will lift the soul above the daily sorrow and perplexity, into a realm of peace.

Invitation to Love

Come when the nights are bright with stars
Or when the moon is mellow
Come when the sun his golden bars
             Drops on the hay-field yellow
Come in the twilight soft and gray.
Come in the night or come in the day,
Come, O love, whene'er you may,
                and you are welcome, welcome...

Come when my heart is full of grief
             Or when my heart is merry;
Come with the falling of the leaf
              Or with the redd'ning cherry.
Come when the year's first blossom blows,
Come when the summer gleams and glows.
Come with the winter's drifting snows,
               And you are welcome, welcome.

My Sky

by chp

Oh My Oh My

The sky!
With clouds floating by.

Day 5

Today's chapters
18- How terrible it will be for anyone who causes others to sin. Temptation to do wrong is inevitable, but how terrible it will be for the person who does the tempting. So if your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away...
19-
"Haven't you read the scriptures?" Jesus replied. "They record that from the beginning 'God made them male and female.' And he said, "This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. Since they are no longer two but one, let no one separate them, for God has joined them together."

"...you can receive eternal life if you keep the commandments."
Which ones? the man asked. And Jesus replied, "Do not murder. Do not commit adultery. Do not steal. Do not lie. Honor your father and mother. Love your neighbor as yourself."

What else must I do? ........Follow Jesus!

Day 4

Chapter 13
Jesus' parables
Hidden treasure- The kingdom of God is like...
a man finds treasure in a field, he hides it again, goes home and sells everything he has so he can buy the field. He also gets the treasure!

Chapter 15
Jesus teaches about inner purity
These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far away. Their worship is a farce, for they replace
God's commands with their own man-made teachings.

...But evil words come from an evil heart and defile the person who says them. For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all other sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander. These are what defile you.
  Words of Jesus our Savior.

The gentile woman who worships Jesus and pleaded with him to remove a demon from her daughter. He tells her that he can't help her because she isn't Jewish. "It isn;t right to take food from the children and feed it to the dogs," he said.
"Yes,Lord," she replied, "but even dogs are permitted to eat crumbs that fall beneath their master's table." Wow what faith!
Her request was granted!
